This Australian grown Alfalfa Seed is a horticultural product suitable for sprouting. Grow amazing fresh alfalfa sprouts at home in your own kitchen – it’s simple to do and takes hardly any time.

How to Use:

To begin sprouting your own alfalfa place 1 ½ tbsps. of these Australian alfalfa seeds in a wide-necked glass jar. Fill the jar with water to thoroughly rinse the seeds. Cover the jar with a piece of fine mesh, lightweight cotton muslin or cheesecloth, and secure with an elastic band. Tip upside down to drain water off (alternatively, the seeds can be drained in a sieve before returning to the jar and covered). Re-fill the jar with filtered water until the level is about 5-10 cm above alfalfa, and allow seeds to soak overnight or for 8 hours. Now drain, rinse seeds well, and drain again before placing the covered jar upside down at a 45o angle. Ensure the cloth is not completely covered by seeds to allow air circulation – otherwise, seeds can spoil. As alfalfa seeds are unhulled they will require filtered sunlight to sprout. Place the upsidedown, angled jar in a sunny spot. Repeat the steps of rinsing & draining seeds twice a day. Alfalfa sprouts will be ready to enjoy in 3-5 days. Once ready to harvest, simply remove from the jar, gently rinse and eat. Add them to sangers & wraps, salads, or serve as a yummy garnish on top of any savoury dish. Sprouts can be refrigerated in an airtight container (just screw a lid onto your jar) and kept for up to 4 or 5 days

Storage:

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
